May Maddness. Jacob Marcus pitched five strong innings without allowing an earned run and struck eight as the No. 16 seed Conestoga baseball team shocked No. 1 seed North Penn, 2-1, in the District 1 Class 6A second round on Wednesday. Cameron Marcus doubled, and Christian Moesler and Owen Margolis accounted for the RBIs.

Stoga Defeats Top Seed North Penn 2-1

Both teams were strong on the hill Wednesday, but Conestoga Pioneers Varsity defeated North Penn 2-1. Pioneers pitchers allowed just two hits to North Penn.

Conestoga scored first, with Cam Marcus coming in on an Owen Margolis bunt for a single. It was beautiful. But n the bottom of the third inning, North Penn tied things up at one on an error.

Conestoga Pioneers Varsity pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning when Christian Moesler singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run by Nick Szary (courtesy runner for Luke Czepiel).

Jacob Marcus (pictured) led things off on the mound for Conestoga Pioneers Varsity. He went five innings, allowing one run on one hit and striking out eight.

Danny Kirwin was on the mound for North Penn. He went six and a third innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out ten. Kolby Barrow threw two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen.

Christian Moesler, Owen Margolis, and Cam Marcus each managed one hit to lead Conestoga Pioneers Varsity.

Conestoga Pioneers Freshman stayed in it until the end, but Lower Merion pulled away late in a 4-3 victory on Monday.

Conestoga Pioneers Freshman lost despite out-hitting Lower Merion five to four. Conestoga Pioneers Freshman opened up scoring in the first inning. Nico Arbes drove in one when he singled.

John Foster was on the mound for Conestoga Pioneers Freshman. He went five and a third innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out two. Connor Neilon threw one and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen.

Neilon, JT Zellefrow, Shane Mahoney, Arbes, and Vaughn Brogan each managed one hit to lead Conestoga Pioneers Freshman.

Freshman Defeat Garnet Valley 4 to 3

Conestoga Pioneers Freshman stole the lead late in the game in a 4-3 victory over Garnet Valley on Tuesday. The game was tied at three with Conestoga Pioneers Freshman batting in the bottom of the fourth when an error scored one run for Conestoga Pioneers Freshman.

In the bottom of the third inning, Conestoga Pioneers Freshman tied things up at three when an error scored two runs for Conestoga Pioneers Freshman.

Ethan Tartaglio (pictured) took the win for Conestoga Pioneers Freshman. He lasted four innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out two.

Walker Burdette went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Conestoga Pioneers Freshman in hits.

Harry S. Truman opened up scoring in the first inning on a fielding error that scored one run.

Conestoga Pioneers Varsity knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the second inning with Cam Marcus’s sac fly scored one run for the Pioneers, and racked up another run in the third on a Buck groundout to first.

Demonstrating his ability to lead the team and to come through in the clutch, Luke Czepiel (pictured) followed up with a 3 run home run in the 5th inning to the put the Pioneers in the lead for good.

Buck got the start and the win for Conestoga Pioneers Varsity. He lasted seven innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out four.
