Despite seeing its seven-run lead whittled down by the end, Conestoga Pioneers Varsity still held off Boyertown for a 7-6 victory on Friday. Boyertown managed six runs in the failed comeback.
Conestoga Pioneers Varsity collected eight hits and Boyertown had eight in the high-scoring affair.
Conestoga Pioneers Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning, when Ryan Buck’s sac fly scored one run for Conestoga Pioneers Varsity. Conestoga followed with a three run 2nd inning and a 3 run fourth inning.
Boyertown chipped away at the lead starting with a one run fourth, a two run fifth, and a three run 7th. The rally was stopped on a bunt attempt by Boyertown that was fielded by Owen Margolis to Max Anastasio for the win.
Cam Marcus led things off on the mound for Conestoga Pioneers Varsity. He lasted four and a third innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out four and walking one. Owen Margolis pitched two and two third innings in relief.
Noah Kurtz led things off on the hill for Boyertown. He allowed seven hits and four runs over three innings, striking out three and walking zero. Nolan Kline and Pat Wieand entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and two innings respectively.
Conestoga Pioneers Varsity tallied eight hits in the game. Margolis, Max Anastasio, and Luke Borger all collected multiple hits for Conestoga Pioneers Varsity.
Boyertown had eight hits in the game. Horrocks and Martin all managed multiple hits for Boyertown. Horrocks went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Boyertown in hits.

Conestoga Pioneers Freshman fell to Garnet Valley 9-8 on Thursday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at eight with Garnet Valley batting in the bottom of the seventh when a walk scored one run.
Conestoga Pioneers Freshman trailed by seven runs in the second inning, but then fought back to lower the final margin. Conestoga Pioneers Freshman scored seven runs in the failed comeback on a single by Matt Evitts in the fourth, a error in the seventh, a single by JT Zellefrow in the seventh, a double by Alex Yucha in the seventh, and a single by Brad Markind in the seventh.
Sanjay Aiyar started the game for Conestoga Pioneers Freshman. He lasted two innings, allowing five hits and seven runs while striking out one. Yucha threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.

TOWAMENCIN >> Jacob Marcus’ unerring fastball and slider threw one big twist into the District 1-6A Playoff bracket.
Marcus racked up eight strikeouts, surrendering just one run off of two hits in five innings of work, pitching 16th-seeded Conestoga to a 2-1 upset victory over No. 1 North Penn.
“I wanted this game,” said a determined Marcus on this sunny Wednesday afternoon at NP. “We were saying the whole day, ‘seeds don’t matter, seeds don’t matter. It’s the team.’ We’re just gonna keep winning. It doesn’t matter who we’re playing.”
The victory advances the Pioneers to a quarterfinal matchup at No. 8 Boyertown on Friday.
This year, for the first time, the End of Season Banquet was held at the Sheraton. Thank you to Kristy Moesler and Diane Harnish for an excellent job organizing the event.

Conestoga Pioneers Freshman opened up scoring in the first inning, when Kyle Gartner singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Conestoga Pioneers Freshman put up three runs in the fifth inning. Conestoga Pioneers Freshman’s offense in the inning came from a walk by Matt Evitts and an error on a ball put in play by Will Brown.
Ethan Tartaglio was the winning pitcher for Conestoga Pioneers Freshman. He lasted five innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out two. Brad Markind threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Tartaglio went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Conestoga Pioneers Freshman in hits.
