Five college players with Southeastern Pennsylvania ties were selected on the third day of Major League Baseball’s first-year player draft.

State College of Florida righthanded closer Scott Williams, a graduate of Conestoga whose fastball has been clocked in the low-to-mid-90 m.p.h. range, was tabbed by the Texas Rangers in the 11th round (No. 336). He started his college career as a catcher at Virginia.

Cincinnati righthander Connor Walsh (Radnor) went to the Chicago White Sox in the 12th round (No. 348). Last season for the Bearcats, the redshirt sophomore posted a 3.48 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 70 innings.

Liberty first baseman Ryan Seiz (Christopher Dock) was picked by the California Angels in the 17th round (No. 509). The erstwhile backstop transferred to Liberty from Louisville.

Pittsburgh righthander Joe Harvey (Kennedy-Kenrick) was chosen by the New York Yankees in the 19th round (No. 572).

St. Joseph’s righthander Jordan Carter (Methacton) was taken by the Cleveland Indians in the 22d round (No. 668).
