Eight Conestoga baseball players committed to colleges: Kyle Stefanic (Lafayette), Max Dolente (Hofstra), Andrew Born (Davidson), Andrew Turner (Long Island University), Tom Richter (College of Charleston), Steven Born (Navy), Austin Shirley (Georgetown) and Andrew Marlino (Denison).
Conestoga baseball head coach John Vogan said, “I’m very proud of every one of them and they have all chosen great schools.”
Three Conestoga girls’ swimmers committed to colleges: Kaitlin Benjamin (Rice University), Abby Mack (William & Mary) and Nikki Bookwalter (Boston University).
Conestoga swimming coach Rob Kirkby said, “I am so very proud of Kaitlin, Nikki and Abby. Kaitlin and Abby have been cornerstones to the team’s success for the past three years. They have both been named to Central League first team [in each of the last three years], have guided the team to three Central League championships and they have never lost a league meet in their three years.
“Nikki transferred in as a junior and quickly established herself as one of the best backstrokers in the league and District One. Abby, Kaitlin and Nikki helped our team to a third-place in the District One Championship last year.
“As a whole, they are one of the most talented classes that I have had the pleasure to coach.”
Two Conestoga boys’ lacrosse players committed to colleges: Alex Mezey (Lafayette) and Jake Scott (Harvard).
Conestoga boys’ lacrosse head coach Brian Samson said, “These two gentlemen have worked so hard and we couldn’t be more proud of them. Not only are they stand-out lacrosse players, but terrific students and great citizens that have contributed to the Conestoga community.”
Three Conestoga crew athletes committed to colleges: Rebecca Simonetti (Clemson), Meagan Hudson (Wisconsin) and Anne Graf (George Mason).
Conestoga crew coach Paul Coomes said, “I could not be more thrilled for Anne, Rebecca, and Meagan. All three girls have worked very hard the past three years, have been tremendous representatives for Conestoga crew and Conestoga High School, and have had tremendous success on the water. It is always a thrill for me to see the hard work and dedication required to be successful in the sport of rowing rewarded.
“All three were actively recruited by very competitive Division I rowing programs, and I think all three found a home where they can excel both on the water and off. I am certain Anne will be successful at George Mason, Meagan will be successful at Wisconsin, and Rebecca will be successful at Clemson.
“But first, they have one more season with Conestoga crew, and I can’t wait to see what they will do on the water this spring.”
