Early Lead For Conestoga Varsity Sets Stage For Victory Over Haverford
Conestoga Varsity defeated Haverford 12-5 thanks to a strong continuous game. Conestoga scored on a double by Max Anastasio in the first inning, a double by Luke Czepiel in the first inning, a double by Jacob Marcus in the first inning, and a groundout by Eric Wajdula in the second inning.
Five runs came in for Conestoga in the third, lead by a triple by Ryan Buck, a groundout by Jacob Marcus, an error on a ball put in play by Jarod De Luccia, and a double by Czepiel. Two more came in the fourth on a two-run double by Jacob Marcus. One more came in the fifth when Christian Moesler doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Buck was on the mound for Conestoga. He surrendered four runs on five hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five.
Ben Savitz got the start for Haverford. He lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and eight runs while walking zero. Ryan Drames and Jack Scott entered the game as relief, throwing two and a third innings and one inning respectively.
Conestoga collected 12 hits. Czepiel, Marcus, Will Mauro, and Owen Margolis each racked up multiple hits for Conestoga. Czepiel (pictured) went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Conestoga in hits.
Haverford scattered six hits in the game.
